Energy production and distribution

Energy production and distribution

A significant expansion of renewable energy, storage, and sectoral integration must be developed to achieve the goals in the green clima agreement from 2022 and the national carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction targets. In particular development of energy islands, sectoral integration with Power-to-X and carbon capture requires expansion with sustained electricity and distribution. Developing and ensuring a sustainable and robust electricity system is a future core challenge.

Research areas

  • Renewable energy: energy islands, wind, sun, waves, tide, geothermic and hybrid plants.
  • Robust and reliable power distribution: ensuring grid capacity, conversion, storage and sector coupling to heat, gas, and fuel.
  • New efficient storage technologies.
  • Management of systems with the use of advanced control, AI, IoT, big data etc.

Did you know...

...more than 50 percent of the total Danish electricity production comes from wind turbines.

Collaboration with companies on impact

The film introduces the sustainable focus area of Energy production and distribution, which works to develop a sustainable and robust electricity system. The film presents current research and the collaboration with the company Schnieder Electric to create high stability in the electricity grid based on renewable energy sources.
